Inihayag ng Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) na kanilang susuriin mabuti ang conversion ng state colleges bilang unibersidad.
Ayon kay CHEd Chairperson, Dr. Patricia B. Licuanan, bagamat inilatag ng Malacañang ang patakaran at panuntunan para sa conversion, hihimayin pa rin ng CHEd panel ang kuwalipikasyon ng mga kolehiyo kung nakatutugon ang mga ito sa mga pamantayan bago ideklarang kuwalipikado sa conversion.
“The establishment or conversion of the institution into a state college or university, respectively, shall become effective only upon determination and declaration by the Commission, based on the recommendation of a panel of experts, that the institution has complied with the requirement for a university status,” dugtong niya.
Hanggang Enero 1, 2016 ang takdang araw para sumunod sa patakaran at panuntunan sa conversion.
