Aminado ang pangulo ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) na maging siya ay hindi kuntento sa midterm elections nitong Mayo 13.
Kasabay nito, nanawagan ang pamunuan ng CBCP sa Commission on Elections (Comelec) na magbigay ng detalyadong ulat sa mga aberyang nangyari sa katatapos na halalan.
Iginiit ni CBCP President at Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma na responsibilidad ng Comelec na linawin at ipaliwanag sa publiko ang mga kinukuwestiyon ng iba’t ibang sektor sa eleksiyon.
“It’s their responsibility to give a good explanation to the many questions not only from ordinary people but by IT (information technology) experts,“ sabi ni Palma. “There’s a need to study the issues for us to determine if the election was really credible and reflected the will of the people.
“In principle, there are many valid points raised because a lot of people thought the elections were okay, but we all know that like in music it was out of tune, which puts into question so many things,“ aniya pa.
Samantala, sinabi naman ng National Secretariat for Social Action, Justice and Peace (NASSA) ng CBCP sa isang pahayag na ang “ineptitude“ o pagkabigo ng Comelec na pangasiwaan nang maayos ang halalan ay naging sanhi upang maging kuwestiyonable ang resulta ng eleksiyon.
Binigyang-diin pa nito ang mga ulat ng voter disenfranchisement, mga pumalyang PCOS machine, corrupted na compact flash cards, palpak na transmission at mga paglabag sa Election Law.
