Inaresto ng pinagsanib na puwersa ng Office of the Ombudsman at National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) ang isang dating kawani ng Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) at driver nito dahil sa umano’y pangingikil sa isang negosyante.
Ayon sa Field Investigation Office (FIO) ng Ombudsman, si Virgilio Achurra, na nagpakilalang kawani ng BIR, ay humingi ng P60,000 sa isang negosyante sa Maynila kapalit ng hindi pagsasampa ng kasong paglabag sa National Internal Revenue Code laban sa huli dahil sa hindi nito pagbibigay ng resibo sa mga kostumer.
Dahil sa reklamo, iniutos ni Assistant Ombudsman Joselito Fangon kay Graft Investigator Joel Eustaquio Purugganan III na humingi ng tulong sa NBI para sa entrapment operation.
Sa operasyon sa Emerald Garden Restaurant sa Maynila ay nadakip si Achurra at ang driver niyang si Rudy Villena, na kapwa kinasuhan ng robbery/extortion at usurpation of authority sa paglabag sa Article 177 ng Revised Penal Code.
Natuklsan din ng Ombudsman na si Achurra, dating Revenue Officer 1 ng BIR, ay sinibak sa serbisyo noong Disyembre 4, 2012 sa utos ng Department of Finance (DOF). – Rommel P. Tabbad
