Nais ni Cavite Rep. Erineo Maliksi na imbestigahan ang pangangailangan ng Mandatory Environmental Insurance Coverage (MEIC) upang makatulong sa epekto ng environmental damages na dulot ng mining operations sa bansa.
Naghain si Maliksi ng House Resolution 2907 na humihiling sa House Committees on Natural Resources, Ecology at ng Trade and Industry na siyasatin nang husto kung papaano ginagamit ang Environmental Guarantee Fund (EGF) na nasa ilalim ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
“It is incumbent upon the government to ensure that, upon occurrence of man-made environmental disasters, areas are rehabilitated up to a state which allows people to go on with the normal course of their lives,“ ani Maliksi. – Bert de Guzman
