Hybrid passenger buses sa Makati

Sa kabila ng ipinaiiral na moratorium sa pagbibigay ng bagong prangkisa sa mga public utility vehicle, inaprubahan ng Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) ang operasyon ng mga hybrid passenger bus sa Makati City.



Sa isang desisyon na ipinalabas noong Abril 17, 2013, binigyan ng LTFRB ng certifi cate of public convenience (CPC) ang Green Frog ZE Transport Corporation para sa operasyon ng 15 hybrid-electric bus nito mula Tramo corner Buendia Avenue hanggang Kalayaan corner C-5 Road.

Sinabi nila LTFRB board members Engr. Ronaldo Corpus at Atty. Al Parreño: “Notwithstanding (the publication of the application in a national daily), no one fi led any written opposition nor appeared at the hearing to controvert the application. Hence, said application is considered uncontested.”

Binigyang diin naman ng LTFRB na ang CPC na ibinigay sa Green Frog ZE Transport upang maibiyahe ang mga hybrid passenger bus nito sa Makati City ay may bisa lamang ng limang taon.

“Only electric and hybrid electric units will be used on this franchise. Likewise, the LTFRB can order the operator to allow the inspection or audit of the said units by the agency,” ayon sa desisyon.

Kasalukuyang ipinatutupad ang isang moratorium sa pagpapalabas ng bagong prangkisa sa mga PUV na inaprubahan pa noong termino ni dating Department of Transportation and Communication Secretary Jose de Jesus.

Sakop ng moratorium ang mga pampasaherong jeep, bus, taxi at express service vehicle subalit hindi nito saklaw ang mga truck for hire, school bus service at mga sasakyan na gumagamit ng alternative fuel.
